Camponotus sansabeanus (dark form) is a large black/copper-colored carpenter ant. The majors are almost as big as the queen! This is a beginner friendly species.

Diet

Insects like mealworms, crickets, roaches, etc.

Colony Size

Queen, 7+ workers, lots of pupae, larvae and eggs

Housing

Test Tube. We recommend keeping them in the test tube for as long  as you can so there will be multiple workers when they move into their next home.

    i think sansubeanus is a great species to start with and is perfect formicariums that the ants get to dig in and are really cool looking.
