Dandelion Seeds for Harvester Ants

Selecting the right seeds for newly establishing harvester ant colonies holds great significance. For species where seeds are the main food source, such as Black and Western Harvester Ants, seeds play a crucial role in initiating their development.  We’ve identified dandelion seeds to be the preferred seeds for all our harvester ant colonies. These seeds are small and easily manageable, perfect for ants. While there are other seeds such as bluegrass and chia that they enjoy, only the dandelion seeds stand out as favorites. Any seed apart from dandelion will be discarded if presented as an option.
